  "projectDescription": "With funding from NOAA's Open Rivers Initiative and NOAA's Southwest Regional Office, the Shasta Valley Resource Conservation District removed a seasonal barrier (diversion dam) from the Shasta River, within the Klamath River watershed.  Removal of this structure restored fish passage to 8.4 river miles of the Shasta River, benefitting Southern Oregon and Northern California coho and fall chinook salmon.  The overall project will also significally improve the water quality within the system by reducing water temperature and improving dissolved oxygen content.",
