  "projectDescription": "NOAA, in partnership with American Rivers, funded the design for the removal of the Satus Dam on Satus Creek, in Toppenish, WA.  The Satus Dam was an abandoned low-head irrigation dam that was fitted with a degraded fish passage structure that was often clogged with debris and non-functional.  The project team designed a dam removal plan, which improved migration of steelhead trout and restored access to summer rearing habitat. The overall project goal was to increase the abundance of viable steelhead spawning redds in the reaches above the dam.",
