  "projectDescription": "NOAA, in partnership with American Rivers, funded the feasibility study and design for the removal of the Finesville Dam on the Musconetcong River in Finesville, NJ.  The dam blocked the passage of anadromous and catadromous fish for approximately three miles of the Musconetcong River, a Wild & Scenic designated system.  Habitat was successfully restored for American Eel, alewife, and blueback herring with the removal of the dam. The project yielded secondary benefits through increased food supply to striped bass within the main stem of the Delaware River.  In addition, this project contributed towards the development of a broader public awareness of fish passage and dam removal within the region and watershed which may generate momentum to remove all the non-functioning dams on the river.",
