  "projectDescription": "Using funding from a partnership between NOAA and the California Conservation Corps (CCCs), this project helped improve habitat for endangered Southern California Steelhead Trout in the Santa Ynez River in Santa Barbara County, CA. CCCs crews redirected the flow of the river into a historic channel to combat severe erosion and stabilize a 1600-foot-long, 30-foot-high vertical bank. After the bank was graded to a gentler slope, CCC crews learned how to use bioengineering techniques such as willow baffles and native planting to reduce erosion and help control sediment input into the Santa Ynez River mainstem.",
