  "projectDescription": "Using funding from a regional partnership between NOAA and the California Conservation Corps, this project improved habitat for threatened South-Central California Steelhead Trout in Santa Rosa Creek, which drains to the Pacific Ocean in San Luis Obispo County, CA. Severe erosion issues along a 500-foot-long section of creek bank were addressed by re-aligning the creek, re-grading the bank, and planting over 1,000 native plants along the bank to stabilize the soil and improve the riparian corridor. In addition, CCC crews installed six rock groins and several rootwads to create scour pools and provide important habitat and cover for steelhead.The Recovery Act portion of this project removed all eucalyptus trees within the project site with a diameter at breast height (DBH) equal to or less than 18 inches.  Following removal, the area was planted using container shrubs and trees that had been collected from the Santa Rosa Creek watershed and raised in the CCC Native Plant Propagation Nursery.",
