  "projectDescription": "The Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument was established in 2001 as a marine protected area of approximately 12,700 acres. One important piece of this monument is Hurricane Hole, a collection of four bays on the eastern end of St. John that is home to 75 percent of all the mangroves remaining on the island. The area has suffered over the years from damage caused by boaters that flee to Hurricane Hole for protection during storm events. This project installed 28 storm mooring berths within Princess Bay and Otter Creek of Hurricane Hole. These storm moorings help to restore fisheries habitat, including mangroves, and prevent future degradation of the site caused by boats tying directly to the mangroves and anchoring in these bays during storm events.",
