  "projectDescription": "Located in the lower Snohomish River, the Qwuloolt Estuary has been cleared, drained and cutoff from tidal and riverine influences by an extensive network of levees. This project restored the estuarine conditions of the area - a highly productive and diverse environment that provides unique and critical habitat for five species of salmonids, including Chinook salmon, which is listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Historic tidal processes were re-established to restore a functioning intertidal marsh system to 350 acres of previously isolated floodplain and provide unrestricted fish access to 16 miles of upstream spawning and rearing habitat.",
