"projectDescription": "The Saugus River watershed in its natural condition had a well defined main channel without passage obstructions to large freshwater wetlands upstream. Historical and anecdotal information indicate that a large eel run occurred in the Saugus River. A dam on the river obstructed juvenile eel passage under nearly all flow conditions. This project improved access to the upstream impoundment at this first dam, and wetlands further upstream, by constructing a custom, aluminum frame ramp that can be seasonally bolted on the spillway of the Lynn Water and Sewer Commission dam. The ramp was completed and deployed for the first time in April 2007 and successfully passed many eels.",
