  "projectDescription": "This project engagied private industry, state agencies and volunteers to successfully transplant disease-free adult clams from high density broodstock areas in Narragansett Bay to low-density shellfish spawner sanctuaries in two coastal salt ponds, Ninigret and Quonochontaug Pond, of Rhode Island. From 2008-2010, the enhancement project seeded over 500,000 adult-hard clams into eight 0.5-acre sites This project tested the efficacy of transplanting hard clams by evaluating seasonal differences between native and transplant conditioning, juvenile recruitment, differences in donor sources, and success of adult hard clam transplants through a series of studies from 2007-2010.",
