Entanglement in fishing line and the hooking of pelicans by fishers is a major factor affecting brown pelican survival.The program has developed a brochure and signs designed to educate the public about how they can reduce disturbance and harm to seabirds while fishing and engaging in recreational activities.The signs have been installed on fishing piers throughout Santa Barbara and Ventura County. The brochure has been distributed widely to local bait and dive shops and other businesses.",
