  "projectDescription": "This project constructed 10,000 linear feet of earthen terraces in southwest Louisiana in an area that has been significantly deteriorated by salt water intrusion and storm damage. The project demonstrated how habitat restoration can be beneficial to both waterfowl management and marine fisheries. The main objectives of this project was to 1) reestablish marsh in shallow open water areas where marsh had deteriorated, 2) reduce wind driven wave erosion and water turbidity, 3) protect existing shorelines, and 4) promote the growth and health of submerged aquatic vegetation. Vegetative plantings were conducted by members of the duck club and local community. Monitoring will be on-going and will contribute to existing monitoring efforts that are already documenting the success of this restoration technique in southwest Louisiana.",
