  "projectDescription": "The 185 year old Cuddlebackville dam on the Neversink River threatened the long-term survival of fish and mussel species by blocking fish passage and mussel dispersal and by altering the river's natural flow.  It was determined that removal is the most effective solution for the long-term protection of aquatic species, including several anadromous species. The river is home to the endangered Dwarf Wedge Mussel. The dam was removed in 2003 allowing the free flow of the Neversink for many miles.",
