  "projectDescription": "The Tampa Longshore Bar Seagrass Recovery Project represents the culmination of nearly ten years of research on the relationship between longshore sand bars and seagrass in Tampa Bay.  The project objective was to determine whether the construction of man-made longshore bars would encourage seagrass recovery by reducing wave energy.  The project constructed, monitored, and compared 4 longshore bar designs to determine if this approach is a viable long term restoration option for seagrass in Tampa Bay. Monitoring efforts will continue through the fall of 2013.  At that time the project team anticipates publishing information on the project and associated results.  To date, the experimental longshore bar structures appear to be functioning as designed. Observations are demonstrating that the bars seem to have improved the stability of adjacent sediments and facilitated an increase in seagrass coverage.  Additional results will be forthcoming.",
