"projectDescription": "The Raymond Brook Dam in Hebron, CT was in poor condition and was preventing Atlantic salmon from accessing an additional 16 miles of high quality habitat within the watershed. The dam was removed, excess sediment was removed from the primary channel, and cobble substrate was added to mimic habitat conditions above and below the dam. Root wads and woody debris were placed in the stream to enhance fish habitat. Removal of the dam has reconnected more than 41 miles of contiguous habitat for Atlantic salmon and other resident species, such as brook trout and white sucker and is expected to enhance American eel access to upstream habitat.",
