  "projectDescription": "NOAA’s Community-based Restoration Program, along with Fish America Foundation, joined with Friends of Madrona Woods to “daylight” and restore Madrona Park Creek in Seattle to its natural channel bed allowing for fish passage and use of this urban creek system. “Daylighting” is the process of bringing a creek out from a piped underground system and allowing it to flow once again at the surface. Volunteers also created 4,800 square feet of new shoreline and wetland habitat, installed a fish-passable creek culvert, and re-vegetated 0.76 acres of existing parkland. Restoring the Madrona Park Creek provides important resting and foraging habitat for Chinook salmon and other species.",
