"projectDescription": "The Agawam River System includes 570 acres of water bodies that could provide spawning and nursery habitat to alewife, blueback herring, and American Shad. Approximately 36 percent of this habitat area is attributed to Halfway Pond, a water body upstream of the non-functioning Kennard Bog fishway site. This project replaced the non-functioning fishway site and modified the pond outlet to allow adult fish to reach upstream spawning grounds and juveniles to migrate downstream to tidal waters. Along with one stream mile opened, a total of 205 acres were restored.",
