"projectDescription": "The Nature Conservancy's Lakeshore Savanna Preserve is located near Bay St. Louis in coastal Mississippi. The Preserve has a main drainage into the Hancock County Marshes, a 23,000 acre area of contiguous estuarine marsh. Both the Preserve and Marsh experienced devastating damage from Hurricane Katrina in 2005, leaving them susceptible to invasive species infestation. This project removed invasive species from 120 acres of the preserve to prevent them from degrading water quality and spreading into adjacent marsh areas. Volunteers helped to monitor the project, and took part in work days at the site.",
