  "projectDescription": "This project will complete a feasibility study for the removal of the Boland Dam, one of four dams on the Willimantic River targeted for fish and boat passage restoration by the Willimantic Whitewater Partnership.  The removal of the Boland dam will represent the initial phase of an effort to re-establish fish passage for American shad, blueback herring, and American eel in the Willimantic River watershed in northeastern Connecticut. In addition, it is anticipated that the efforts to restore  a free flowing system will help revitalize an economically depressed community.",
