  "projectDescription": "Consumptive water rights with senior priority dates were acquired through a combination of conserved water projects and outright acquisitions in order to restore 10 cfs of streamflow along several miles of the river. The Oregon Water Trust (OWT) transfers water rights to instream use to assure that in times of shortage, water will be available in the river for fish. The water right is protected for approximately five river miles, to the Oregon/Washington state line. The restored streamflow enhance several miles of freshwater habitat in the Walla Walla, eliminating the current no-flow and low-flow barrier to fish passage in the late summer and early fall months, and re-establish connectivity along the stream system and into the headwaters that provide critical spawning and rearing habitat.",
