  "projectDescription": "This restoration project was designed as the first step to reestablish Bay Scallop populations (Argopecten irradians) within Boca Ciega Bay using an innovative stock enhancement strategy.   This strategy involved the release of hatchery reared reproductively mature larvae into containment booms within two sites in Boca Ciega Bay.  The booms were used to prevent excessive dispersal of the scallops to help increase abundance to a density where the population can become more stable and self sustaining.  This project successfully demonstrated that the strategy of releasing late-stage pediveliger larvae resulted in the recruitment of juvenile scallops to artificial collectors and seagrass habitat at two restoration sites: Tarpon Key and Mullet Key Bayou.",
