  "projectDescription": "In 1967, Florida began building artificial reefs with waste tires. Over the years, many of the tires have washed ashore and continue to move around due to wave action and currents.  Near Fort Lauderdale, numerous tires have being forced up against the eastern edge of the middle coral reef. This project removed and recycled those waste tires from a section of natural coral reef off of Fort Lauderdale. Eighty-eight volunteer divers completing a total of 158 dives and successfully removed 1,600 tires that covered approximately 20 square meters of sea-bottom.",
