The absence of the dam has opened up approximately 7.5 miles of spawning and rearing habitat to the headwaters of Pennypack Creek watershed. The removal of the dam has reduced flooding upstream of the dam by increasing channel storage capacity, reduced streambank erosion and eliminated a public safety hazard.",
