"projectDescription": "At one time, populations of bay scallops flourished along the Gulf coast of Florida. Unfortunately, today bay scallops are found only in isolated populations along the coast and they are struggling to recover. Studies have shown that many populations have poor recovery potential because scallop larvae do not survive to reproduce. With this in mind, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission designed an innovative restoration project that hatchery-reared and released scallop larvae at several sites to help rebuild the populations.",
