  "projectDescription": "The University of Central Florida explored the problems associated with the spread of Caulerpa taxifolia and used molecular techniques to distinguish Caulerpa taxifolia strains.  No Caulerpa taxifolia was found in the waters of Tampa Bay but species were collected from local retailers and DNA sequences of the samples were added to the worldwide library.  Approximately 12,000 fact sheets were distributed regarding the dangers of aquarium dumping and selling/purchasing this invasive algal species.  Lesson packets and FCAT curriculum  were distributed to all middle and high school science teachers in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties.",
