  "projectDescription": "In order to re-establish the connection between the slough and the river, the upper end of the slough was opened up in a manner that did not create a flood hazard and allowed a significant volume of river water to flow through during the summer months. Restoration of 3.5 miles of river bed were created by excavating 7,000 feet of stream channels connecting 11 existing large, groundwater- fed ponds. The restored channels provide overwintering and summer habitat for juvenile salmon that enter voluntarily or due to flooding events.",
