"projectDescription": "Using funding from a partnership between NOAA and American Rivers, the Community Environmental Council undertook this project to remove a 12-foot-high dam in the Sisquoc River in Santa Barbara County, CA. In October 2006, Horse Creek Dam was removed using explosives. Removal of this dam re-opens access to approximately 19 miles of high quality stream habitat which had been inaccessible to endangered Southern California Steelhead Trout for almost 40 years.",
