"projectDescription": "Dauphin Island, Alabama is a barrier island located at the western side of the mouth of Mobile Bay. The high boat traffic coupled with frequently strong easterly winds has led to erosion in the Saw Grass Point Salt Marsh, which is one of only two tidal marshes on Dauphin Island. This project protected the existing marsh from further erosion by creating oyster reef breakwaters. It is anticipated that sediments will fill in behind the breakwaters and allow for marsh growth.",
