  "projectDescription": "Lost fishing equipment, commonly known as \"ghost nets,\" are a threat to migratory salmon and other fish in commercial fishing areas in the Columbia River. This project used a small commercial fishing vessel and crew to recover lost nets and other debris. This project developed methods for retrieving lost fishing gear using a variety of dragging techniques. Recovery operations were performed in areas of suspected lost nets (as previously determined with Side Scan Sonar survey) and/or in known commercial fishing areas, or areas of reported lost nets.  A total of 13 days were spent performing recovery operations; the project removed 25 nets and assorted line and debris.",
